Telemedicine is still an evolving landscape. Many U.S. states will allow a medical doctor to prescribe medications without ever seeing a patient, and simply by looking at their medical history and current situation for a diagnosis. This is called "store-and-forward."
Federal law also requires that your prescribing physician be in the state from which you’re ordering.
But some states do require some sort of direct contact. A phone/audio call or video chat can satisfy this requirement in most cases.
If your state requires an audio or video call to finish your diagnosis/prescription, Rex MD will let you know as soon as possible during the checkout process.
Here’s a list of states that do not fully embrace "store-and-forward" communication and will require an audio or video call before prescription completion. Rex MD facilitates this quickly and easily as well. [Updated 3/26/20]
